Privacy Policy

Effective 18 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information KickoffValue collects, why, where it is kept and your rights under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We collect as little as we need, we do not sell it, and we do not use advertising or tracking tools.

1. Who is responsible

The responsible party is the operator of KickoffValue. Our information officer can be reached at hello@kickoffvalue.com.

2. What we collect

  • Account: your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only in hashed form by our login provider; we never see them.
  • What you enter: odds you type, paste or import, recorded predictions, bet plans and drafts, your settings (including the betting site name and web address you choose) and messages you send through the feedback chat.
  • Technical data: our hosting and login providers keep short-lived logs of requests, such as IP address, browser type and time, for security and to fix problems.

We do not collect payment details, betting site passwords, betting account data, ID numbers or location data.

3. Why we use it

  • To give you access and run the service you asked for (performance of our agreement with you).
  • To keep the service secure, prevent misuse and fix problems (our legitimate interest).
  • To read and answer your feedback, and improve the service (our legitimate interest, or your consent when you write to us).
  • To meet legal obligations, if any apply.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling or automated decisions about you, and we do not sell or rent it.

4. Cookies and similar storage

We use only what the service needs to work. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

  • Login cookies keep you signed in.
  • Preference cookies: your time zone (kv_tz) and match filters (kv_match_filters).
  • Storage in your browser: your day or night theme and your current bet plan.

5. Who processes it, and where

  • Supabase (database and login), hosted in the European Union (Ireland).
  • Vercel (app hosting), running in Ireland and delivering pages through its global network.
  • GreenGeeks (website and email hosting), if you email us.

Some of these providers are outside South Africa. We use them because they apply protection comparable to POPIA (for example the EU's GDPR) and are bound by agreements to protect personal information, as POPIA section 72 requires. Our football data providers (football-data.org and OpenLigaDB) receive no personal information about you.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account information and what you enter: while your account is active, and deleted within 30 days of a deletion request or closure.
  • Feedback messages: up to 24 months, so we can follow up and see how issues were resolved.
  • Technical logs: the short periods set by our hosting and login providers.

7. Security

Connections are encrypted, access to each person's data is restricted in the database itself, secret keys stay on the server, and access is by invitation only. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

8. Your rights

You may ask us to:

  • confirm whether we hold information about you and give you a copy;
  • correct or delete it;
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to a use;
  • close your account.

Email hello@kickoffvalue.com or use the feedback chat. We answer within a reasonable time and free of charge for ordinary requests. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa through inforegulator.org.za.

9. Children

The service is for adults (18 and over) only. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone younger; if we learn we have, we delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above shows the latest version, and we will point out important changes in the app.
